Below is a video I created of the polar bears of Kaktovik, Alaska….

During a quiet intermission from play fighting two polar bear cubs appear to be about to kiss. A second later they were back to massacring each other with gusto!

Currently polar bears (Ursus maritimus) are listed by the IUCN as Vulnerable.

Threats to their existence include hunting and loss of habitat.

    Very sweet capture. Wonderful work.

  • Thank you, Bunny! It’s funny….the bears look so sweet here but the rest of the series of photos shows the two cubs play biting and pinning each other to the ground, teeth bared and all that goes with play fighting. They were a hoot to watch! G

So beautiful! They must have a lot of energy to burn!

  • Oh sweet Dot, I wish I had the energy young babes have. Where did all that vim and vigor of youth go??? Oh well, at least I can still appreciate “young love” carrying on! :-)) Moments later, these two ruffians were rolling on top of each other, biting necks and slamming their huge paws onto each other. What fun they were having! Hugs, G
