Below is a video I created of the polar bears of Kaktovik, Alaska….

Two rambunctious polar bear cubs playing hard with each other. The naughty twinkle in the larger cub’s eyes brings a smile to my face.

Currently polar bears (Ursus maritimus) are listed by the IUCN as Vulnerable. Threats to their existence include hunting and loss of habitat.

    Awesome Gina! I love the patterns of their paw pads!! I envy your location!!! I can only imagine the thrill of seeing these beautiful creatures so closely… Beautiful work! ~kim
    PS I mentioned in a different post that you should be published… and I mean it with all sincerity. I think there are many publications or organizations that would love to use your images to promote protection of these splendid mammals!! …the whales too! : }

  • Thank you for your very kind vote of confidence! You have a good idea, perhaps one that will come to fruition one of these days. I am still working on fleshing out my body of work for bears and whales. There is such a long road ahead of me but I keep trying…:-)). Hugs, G

    Oh, aren’t they just adorable! Love the “smile” on the one sitting up! What a riot! Interesting to see those huge paws!

  • Hey, Dot! The play antics of these two ruffians reminded me of two canine playmates I know. The teasing, sizing each other up and then ferociously rolling about in a white furry ball was a hoot that went on and on and on. Hugs, G

  • Lisa, thank you! Polar bear cubrs are like other youngsters; they play hard and then collapse into deep slumber. Thay are so much fun to watch. G
