A dusty dry season dawn created orange hues in the sky over thousands of ancient Buddhist pagodas. Due to the haze in the air, my preferred photos from a hot air balloon flight were crisp silhouettes of ancient temples standing stalwart against fiery dawn skies. When life hands one hazy sky lemons, make lemonade with silhouettes!

Bagan, Burma, SE Asia

March 2, 2010

Canon 40D, Tamron 28-75mm lens, shutter 1/500, f/11, exposure bias -2, focal length 33mm, ISO 200. I saturated the color slightly during editing plus darkened the image to enhance the silhouette’s dramatic contrast.

It is my sincere wish that visitors to my portfolio experience the beauty and wonder of nature. Moreover my hope is that my photographs will inspire viewers to be proactive toward the protection of wildlife and its habitat, those efforts ultimately making a far better world for all beings.

OMG- brilliant – what a superb silhouette – terrific capture – love you quoted comment. Liz

  • Thank you, Braedene! I’m delighted you enjoyed this image. Darn, I cannot recall which pagoda this is but it is one of Bagan’s biggies.
