Photographed from a balloon, the 8000-plus pagodas in Bagan, Burma take on a dreamy quality in the dry season when dust, heat and haze create a sepia-toned image.
A visual treat for photographers, Bagan offers subject material around every curve of the path one takes. Ancient pagodas dot the landscape. Virtually everywhere one looks, there are more pagodas, many of them still in use by worshipping Buddhists.

It is my sincere wish that visitors to my portfolio experience the beauty and wonder of nature. Moreover my hope is that my photographs will inspire viewers to be proactive toward the protection of wildlife and its habitat, those efforts ultimately making a far better world for all beings.

GORGEOUS!
John, thank you VERY much! I was sort of bummed by the haze in the sky but managed to “make lemonade with the lemons” I was given that particular early dawn.

Thank you very much, headygirl! Glad you liked this image. I was struck by the massive amounts of pagodas that stretched in all directions. It was a beautiful sight.

Wonderful capture with great atmosphere, well done!
Thank you, Konstantinos! The view from aloft was dreamy, watching and listening to the village below come alive. I wish I had had more than a week to return and photograph these lovely pagodas.

So beautiful! Great capture whalegeek!
Lisa, thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed this image. I was told to return to Bagan in or after the rainy season for clearer skies but I must admit that the hazy in the dry season air added a different character to the scene.

gorgeous (but where are the whales? just kidding) – wonderful tones!
Barb, what a bummer about no whales!!! I tried to even see a whale in the image’s shapes but no dice. From time to time I forsake my favorite beasties but stay tuned…there should be some whales appearing in a few months. :-))) Thank you for making me laugh this morning, Barb.
