My dog, Qimeq. He’s part Siberian husky, part German shepherd and lots of ‘unknown’ according to his DNA.
Mr. Q was found lying underneath a bush before being brought to a local animal shelter. That’s all we know about his past.
Qimeq was very ill when adopted August 12, 2008, progressing from suffering a case of kennel cough along with a severe parasite infestation to necrotizing pneumonia within the course of a few days. This handsome boy came close to death.
Happily, thanks to lots of TLC, powerful antibiotics, a smart veterinarian and youth, the skinny waif my husband and I brought home has matured into this fine, strong, strapping ‘juvenile delinquent.’
If you are considering adopting a dog, please search local animal shelters and breed rescue sites. There are so many other secondhand dogs (and cats) awaiting good forever homes, each one of them as sweet-natured and beautiful as our special companion.
