This young polar bear hissed and clacked its lips in warning as our zodiac passed by. While searching for beluga whales I spotted this bear in the water near our watercraft. It was none too pleased to see us approaching so we only took enough time to capture some images before leaving this fella on his own once more. Ice was plentiful in Hudson Bay in mid-July yet was breaking up, thus polar bear were coming ashore near Churchill, Manitoba for a summer season of no food other than what they can scavenge or catch in the form of not terribly nutritious hares and lemmings.
