Mother Alaskan brown bear (Ursus arctos) at Brooks River, Katmai National Park, Alaska, USA. Mother bruin was fishing near the bridge spanning the Brooks River, the same bridge tourists must cross in order to walk to the Brooks River Falls bear observation platform. This bridge is often temporarily closed due to bears being in the bridge’s vicinity, which was the case when this mother bear fished for herself and her cub.

It is my sincere wish that visitors to my portfolio experience the beauty and wonder of nature. Moreover my hope is that my photographs will inspire viewers to be proactive toward the protection of wildlife and its habitat, those efforts ultimately making a far better world for all beings.

  • Thank you, Jenny. I worried about this mama bear as she looked thin to me. Hope she’ll be out of her den soon.

How exciting to see a bear like this! Great timing and well captured!

  • Eivor, this mama bear was a treat to watch despite holding us “captive” on the far side of the bridge for quite some time. Thank you for your kind comments.
