Sunset turning water into flames. Photographed at sunset while sailing along Alaska’s Aleutian Islands. A rare spate of blissful clear weather blessed us with an oily ocean and just the right amount of rippling wavelets to make for an interesting sunset abstract.

Photographed with a Canon 40D using a Canon 100-400mm lens, shutter 1/100, f/5.6, focal length 285mm, ISO 400.

July, 2008.

    Nice capture!!

  • I appreciate your comment, lanebrain. The effect of the setting sun on the water was fleeting and so very beautiful, if only for a few moments.
