Salt Marsh Sunset Over Chincoteague Bay
After a strong northeaster storm wreaked havoc on the US’ Mid-Atlantic states, a sunset appeared that sorta said, “Sorry about that.” A neighbor’s dock was ripped from it’s moorings in the salt marsh, leaving only timber sentinels to stand guard over the now peaceful setting.
Photographed on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, USA.
Canon 40D with a Tamron f/2.8 28-75mm lens, shutter 1/400, f/6.3, ISO 400, tripod with camera self timer.
May, 2008.

Oh, I am so happy you enjoyed this image.
Actually, it was quite fun to shoot. After the turmoil of the storm when marsh flooding began to subside, I set up a tripod on the deck of the house I rented. Every few minutes I’d click another image of the setting sunset while sipping wine with my husband. Compared to some of the things I do to capture a photo, this was one of my favorite ways to take photos.

Almost a monotone sunset. Really like this one as well. Thanks for sharing them.

Thank you for having a look at my work, Andrew!

Gorgeous.

Thank you, Teresa. Those sunset colors were knock outs, particularly after the furious, flooding storm that preceded this sunset. All was well with the world once more after the tempest passed by.

GORGEOUS!!!!

Thank you, lorilee. This sunset occurred after a dreadful nor’easter passed over the bay. It surely was nice to see after that tempest caused so much trouble.
