Amazing, you are blessed!
whalegeek replied
Andrew, it’s the whales that bless us with their presence. I am happy you stopped by for a look at these beloved beasties. Thanks much.
Andrew Price
I wrote a poem called ‘Cetecea’, I read it at my local poetry society and I burst into tears but I got a big round of applause
whalegeek replied
Thank you for sharing this with me, Andrew. It appears you are a fellow whale “geek” like me! Whales can indeed inspire powerful emotions. Heck, I just love watching them.
Chris Snyder

Wonderful capture! Instant fave.
whalegeek replied
Thank you so much, James. This is one of my all time favorite photos not only for the image but also for the memories this humpback whale brings back to me. I’m pleased you enjoyed it as well.
ooyayootay
This is so beautiful that I got a lump and a tear!
Beyond excellent! We’re edging into truly Spiritual territory. Pure Beauty squeezed into a photographic image . . .
WOW!
whalegeek replied
Thank you, ooyayootay. Whales have a way of doing this to you, causing a lump in one’s throat. I’m truly happy you enjoyed this image of one of nature’s most magnificent creatures.
Jan Timmons
I added this to my favorites, and then thought perhaps I should write something. How many superlatives can I possibly squeeze into this comment box? I love looking at these as a series, despite thumbnail size. Doesn’t “great shot” sound a tad weak for something of this magnitude?
whalegeek replied
Pure poetry from you, Jan. Thank you for the Fave as well as your kind comments. I must agree with you that when in the company of whales I often am at a loss for descriptive words for them. They evoke powerful emotions in me as well as many others.
Ellen
Also a beautiful image with very good color!

whalegeek replied
Marilyn, you are ever so kind to comment. Your words mean so very much to me, giving me a lift as I read them. The magic of that day spent with my favorite beasties of the deep remains with me today.
Karen Moore
This is awesome, I remember the whales when I lived in Hawaii, I wish I was into photography then. This is Stunning, they are so beautiful, to even imagine that there is something that hugh in the water. Wow you have wonderful images, they are all my favorites.
whalegeek replied
Karen, thank you for sharing your memories with me. As with you, I regret not paying attention to photography more in years past. Too soon old and too late smart. Thank you for your very kind comments. They made my day!
photosbyflood
Wow very nice. i have seen this but didnt have the equipment at the time to take the images. i was in the Coast Guard back in the 70s and we would take regular trips up to Alaska from Hawaii. I have been back many times to Hawaii and hope to go back to Alaska some day,
Thanks
whalegeek replied
First of all, thank you for your service in the Coast Guard! I very much appreciate what you fellas do. Also, thank you for sharing your personal memories of time spent on Alaskan waters. I hope you can return with your digital camera. Same story here; I have many memories in prints. Guess I’ll have to return to those places with a memory chip or two or three or four…:-)
aspectsoftmk
blessed we are that we have these gentle…but strong beauties…exceptional energy….::))
whalegeek replied
I could not agree with you more, aspectsofmk. Having whales among us enriches our lives in so many ways. Thank you for stopping by.
liesbeth
How i would love to see this for myself one day.. ;)
The whale does have an exceptional energy ; in the spiritual world the whale stands for Christ-consciousness ..
whalegeek replied
Liesbeth, thank you for your kind comments. It is my wish that you will spend time with whales some day soon to enjoy their acrobatic performances. How interesting that whales represent Christ-consciousness. I was not aware of this. Interestingly, on occasion I have seen whales breach from an angle that gives them a cruciform shape, both pectoral fins extended laterally. That always brings a lump to my throat as it does indeed remind me of a cross. Thank you for taking time to write. I have put your work on my Watchlist and will stop by for a closer look when time permits more browsing. You are very, very talented and I’m happy to have found your art on RedBubble!
TREVOR IRWIN
This is an outstanding capture of a whale. caught in action. The words of Jesus come to me as I look at this magnificent whale.
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. satan tried to destroy Jesus and kill the prince of peace on a cruel cross.. He thought he could stop God from taking away satan’s power over mankind and prevent them from eternal damnation.
Jesus himself made reference to the whale and Jonah who spent three days in its belly. He was speaking of himself ascending inn to hell. When Jesus died, satan and all his demons were celebrating the fact that Jesus was dead. They had a big party going on in hell. But suddenly a light appeared and the demon of death screamed and run to satan and said he is not dead, he is alive and he is here. The party suddenly stopped and Jesus who had said I will rise from the dead, went and demanded the keys of death and hell from satan. he made an open shame of satan and all his demons. Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
He stripped him f all power and authority over man. His Blood that he shed was for the remission of sins. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. We who have asked Jesus to forgive us our sins, are washed in his blood and made clean. The whale to many is just a big thing that lives in the sea my friends. but Even Jesus made a reference to the whale.

whalegeek replied
Trevor, my friend wrote similar words when she saw my favorite beasty of the deep. Thank you for taking time to write such eloquent words.
Anne O'Connor
Super series of the whale breeching. They are generally not always that easy to capture, but you have done it well. Great images.
whalegeek replied
Anne, thank you ever so much for stopping by to comment. Whales are a pain to photograph when it comes right down to it as they tend to be unpredictable but every chance I have to look for them, just sign me up on the dotted line! You live on one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Would love to return one day. Thank you for stopping by.
Anne O'Connor
You are always welcome to stop by anytime. Let me know and we can go chase Tassie whales together :)
whalegeek replied
You’re on, Anne. Gads, I’d love to see more of those wonderful Southern Ocean whales. :-)))

I’m glad you took time to make such a nice comment on my bufalo photo and therefore, created the oportunity for me to get to discover and enjoy your wonderful work! Your collection is truely inspirational! I had to favorite several of them – Thanks, so much and have a great weekend! – Kent
whalegeek replied
What a sweetie you are, Kent! Thank you for bringing a big smile to my face today. When someone else proffers a vote of confidence, it truly gives one a lift. I feel the same as you do with regard to finding other artists’ portfolios…browsing on RB can be so much fun as well as rewarding when one connects to another’s art and vision. That’s how I found your work. I wrote a comment on another artist’s image and began browsing the portfolios of other people who stopped by to comment.
Hey, Kent, I read that you are an internal med specialist. Have you ever considered doing photography associated with the field of medicine? Note: my husband is a retired gas-passer, or anesthesiologist to the uninitiated, so his attitude was always “why would I want to have anything to do with medicine after putting in 100-hour weeks???” Therefore, considering how busy your practice keeps you, I certainly understand if medical photography might not be your cup of tea. On the other hand, a view into the real life of a medical doctor would be fascinating to others whose idea of a doctor’s life and practice may be fostered by the television series Ben Casey (I’m dating myself) or ER. Additionally, I have been told that stock medical images sell well for advertising so perhaps this may make this option attractive to you.
Enough of me prattling on, thank you ever so much for stopping by. I’m so very happy you enjoy my work so much. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!
P.S. You are now an honorary whale geek! LOVE those whales!

;-)))
Dyle Warren
Fantastic!! I wonder how many gallons of water these guys bring up with them…☺.
whalegeek replied
Dyle, that’s a very good question. Considering that some humpbacks carry nearly a ton of barnacles on their bodies, it has to be one heck of an enormous amount of water that is displaced by a breaching whale’s body. Hmmm, I’ll have to ask some of the whale experts I know next month at a whale conference I’m attending. Thanks for stopping in to comment!
Rick & Deb Larson
Simply AWESOME Gina … this one really got some air, lol (well kindda)!! Take Care ~ Rick & Deb ~ ☺
whalegeek replied
Thanks, you two. A breaching whale is such a thing of beauty. Forty tons of fun flinging itself into the air is so impressive. :-))
