Cummins Theatre - Merredin - West Australia by

Cummins Theatre is still going strong…
Originally located in Coolgardie it was disassembled and then relocated to Merredin in 1927… As a picture Theatre, Cummins was one of the first venues to show “talking” pictures in the Commonwealth, and for many years was considered state of the art in its field.
The fly tower is rope operated and one of the few remaining in the world… Cummins Theatre ceased operation as a movie theatre in 1966, and in 1974 became a dedicated home to the Merredin Repertory Club. The amateur Theatre Company continues to stage increasingly popular productions at the Theatre to this day, and Cummins Theatre has also welcomed the recently established Merredin Music Club to its list of patrons. Speakiing of music Bon Scott toured here with ACDC !!! Can you imagine the show they put on !!!
