Currently unavailable for purchase

This artwork shows three dragonflies with shining, whirring wings on a high-speed flight through the forest. Particular attention is given to the patterning on these dragonflies, including the fantastically intricate venation of their wings. The forest is suggested by a few subtle leaves and vines, and by the slightly textured background fabric.
Medium: Textile art. Appliqué, and hand stitching including straight stitch, running stitch, whipped back stitch, stem stitch, chain, cable chain, and square chain stitch, blanket stitch, herringbone stitch, closed feather stitch, Cretan stitch, and coral stitch, using cotton thread, metallic thread, and textured linen/cotton mix fabric. This is one artwork from the Forest flight series, all of which feature insects in flight.

I am an Australian artist, currently living and working in South Australia. Drawing, watercolour, textile art, natural fibre basketry, and lino printing are among my chosen media.
