Past, present, and...

I was an old man,
before I aged,
counted stars,
as they fade,
I held a flower,
before spring had come,
and watched the end,
as it begun.

I have reached within,
held without,
given to pain,
shuddered in doubt,
I have lifted mountains,
and swam deep seas,
in hopes of finding,
a better me.

Don’t blame me dears,
don’t judge my life,
my wit is sharp,
like the cutting knife,
my smile is true,
perhaps too wry,
but I’ll laugh at fate,
before I die.

Past, present, and...
