paper heart

I have reached in and grabbed my heart,
easily taken and pulled apart,
i throw this paper heart to the sky,
in hopes that it flies so very high,
caught in winds that will take it fast,
away from this empty past,
through the gales and pouring rain,
staying dry with heated pain,
to sail across ocean tides,
across the seas so wide,
above the forests of emerald green,
above lands i have never seen,
to finally rest on snow capped peak,
never finding what it seeks,
that paper heart ripped with tears,
finally releases bitter fears,
pieces fall like paper snow,
melting as i let go,
no more pain within this chest,
empty…i can rest.

I am a poet at heart.
A writer in dreams.
A father always.
A man.

I am, perhaps, me.
