“Tis a tear m’Lord.”
The king stared in amazement, “A tear you say?”
“Yes m’Lord, water from the eye.”
“And tell me Page, what causes this tear to form?”
“Why can be many things m’Lord. Sadness, happiness, anger, peace, love, hate…why there are many a reason for a tear sire.”
The King stared at the page with a dumbfounded look, “and what causes this Tear today page?”
“Why it’s my duty m’Lord, to fulfill it…It causes me pain.”
The King smiled, “You do me a service. So many years as King, before that a prince. My own ego removed tears from my eyes.”
“Yes m’Lord,” the page whispered.
“But today I cry…today i am finally more than a King. I am a man.”
The page watched the tears fall from the man’s eyes as he pushed the dagger further into the King’s chest. Yes, for all his cold tyranny, he had died a man.
