Hidden under raincoats,
Behind newspapers
With undone zippers
With sweaty palms.
Behind false collars,
Harsh truth of smiles
Awkward silences
Waiting to harm.
On subways crowded
In bushes hidden
Predators creeping
Breathing and baring.
These people starving
For all their desires
On innocents waiting
through windows staring.
And the harm they commit
Is just a state of mind
The evils they seek
Are judged little by law.
These are people
So says the rules
But they are the evil
They don’t see the flaws.
We jail then release
We say they are cured
Until the coats are back on
To find victims new.
So they go back
And are judged again
but the laws are so wrong
when pervs are people too.

great! That amazes me because it tells the truth of every pervert and pedophile in the world

Talk about a darker side! But how true the circular motion these people take through the court system, when the help they really need is so much more than a 8×10 with bars. There is indeed evil out there, and yes, parts of it has a face – a human face…wow…such a scary concept.
You have used your eloquently skillful self to show us what others tend to sweep away where others will not look…nicely done.

Paul,
I took a little while before commenting to mull this one over. You tell a good story through your poems. This one is quite edgy. I think you balance it well by challenging the reader to reconsider whether or not everyone deserves continuous opportunities to reset the scales.

Awesome but unsettling, a very powerful message. It made me cringe a little bit reading it, but that’s a good thing, that’s what poetry’s for, emotional evocation. Bravo ;)

How is it that some people can be so fixated on doing odd and bold things? yet they repeat it over and over. strange compulsions some people have.
