Chiaroscuro - Photography Exhibition

I am having my first ever exhibition of my work in Adelaide, South Australia on 26th July!!

I am very excited!

It’s entitled ‘Chiaroscuro’ and is a set of abstract nudes shot with light and dark elements as the title suggests. I will be exhibiting with a fellow artist called Alex Fitzgerald who has produced a series of eerie, ethereal photographs using light painting and herself as the model. Very cool.

So it’s at 7.30 on the 26th July at the Clubhouse Lane Boutique, 238a Rundle Street, Adelaide. This is the opening night but it will run for around 4 weeks. On the first night the shop will be turned into a gallery, thereafter the works will fit around the clothes, so the good thing is you can see some art and do some shopping as well. It’s a pretty cool …

Artistic Style

The other day a photographer friend, who I greatly respect, sat down and had a good look through my portfolio. He was very supportive and the main point he raised was that looking at my portfolio was like looking at the work of 4 or 5 different photographers. He couldn’t see a style. He didn’t know which one was me.

This was quite a piece of feedback and quite a shock, but I could see his point.

So should we as artists have a recognisable style? Should people be able to look at our work and say ‘oh yes that is obviously a …. piece’.

I have been taking photography seriously now for around 2 years so I feel that I am still experimenting. But should the experimenting stop and should I concentrate on looking for a style.

What do you other artists on RedBubbl…

Disappointment at cheating

This is a very sad journal for me to write but I feel it needs to be put into the RB community.

I recently discovered that a photographer that I greatly respected, was using other photographers images and passing them off as his own.

This is dispicable.

Not only was he trying to reap rewards from selling another photographers work, he was also replying to comments from other artists as if he had improved his own work. To me this is like deceiving members of your own family.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement.

So if there is anybody else doing this be warned you will be found out.

A big thanks

Thanks to everyone who voted in the blondes challenge in the British portrait artists group, especially to the 8 who voted for me! Greatly appreciated.

4 Features....WOW

I would like to sincerely thank Studio Lighting, South Australian Artists and Male photographers for featuring my work this week.

The Biba shoot with Deanna was great fun. It was also a great experience for me as it was the first time I have taken a concept through from thought to delivery……..a very satisfying process!

The last 6 months on RB has been amazing! There are so many fantastic artists. I don’t want to sound immodest (but I will!!) but I am truly proud to be able to include myself as one of them.

Thanks again

More features - OMG!

Thanks again to the people who have featured my work in their group….namely South Australian Artists and Studio Lighting.

You are people with extraordinarily good taste!!

All joking aside, I am blown away each time someone makes a comment or adds me as a feature. I am also genuinely surprised when it happens! To take the time to do either is humbling and always gratefully received.

Thank you so much

Features

I could not believe my eyes this morning when I checked the PC, 2 images featured in the South Australian artist group. This is in addition to the 2 that were on the main featurs page.

I don’t know what to say. Honestly, 6 months ago I didn’t have the confidence to show anyone outside my immediately family any of my work. Now this.

It’s a cliche but words cannot express the gratitude I feel towards the hosts of the group and all of the amazing, talented and generous artists on Redbubble. You have changed my life.

Thank you everyone for the comments, the favouritings, anyone who is watching me.

WARNING: You have created a monster…..I must make more art…and more and more!!

THANK YOU

Wonderful comments - Collective thank you

Wow I am overwhelmed at all the great comments! To get feedback from such great artists is wonderful and incredibly moving. It has inspired me to get on and do more images.

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to send a comment.
