Photo based artists have a terrible problem. We’ve got to cause the viewer to tumble through our one single plane into an imaginary pond that we’ve built behind it. A place where our ideas and feeling lurk for the viewer to splash about in. And we’ve only got one frame to do it. One… count ‘em… one. And look how easy you make that lure here. It was minutes before I came back from getting all wet before I actually thought about the semi-comics, semi-photographic image that brought me into this haunting color, skies, and bizarre emptiness. You realize that anthropologists of the far-off future will dismiss this as a “Holy-Place” as opposed to the cultural stew that it represents? You’ve reeeeely mounted a powerful single shot here. Whoa!
