Malaysia is an amazing place. I do not know how long you are planning to stay or how much time you have. But I would hire a car and travel around Malaysia. Especially the east cost, where you can watch and photograph turtles and eggs. Beware very Muslim orientated area, so cover up.

Also near by you find the most amazing rainforest, watch the tapir and anteaters come out at night. all you have are your senses of smell and hearing. It gets so pitch black at night you can not see a think. The amazing sounds at night are just magic. Or how about the temple of snakes in Penang. Malaysia magic.

I see you are doing all the typical beach holidays in Thailand, Ok that is cool, but Thailand has so much more to offer. Travel along the river between Thailand and Burma. Walk in the Hills in Northern Thailand and visit the nomadic tribes like the long neck people. Stay on a barge on the river quai and watch Elephants bathe, before the crickets and tree frogs lull you to sleep That is really magic.

The Thai are charming, beautiful inside and out. Soon you will be grinning from ear to ear day and night and even in your sleep.

Just remember many of the beach resorts have been originally established, for either Middle Eastern, Japanese make tourists, or America sailors on land leave. There are many beautiful areas outside those resorts, where the true face of Thailand is shown. Check out the Lonely planet, they are cool books ( and on-line) for the destinations you are looking visiting, from what to see, where to stay and also what to avoid.
Check out the temples and Golden Buddha in Bangkok
I have travelled to many countries in south east Asia, including Burma, Bali, Japan and many more. I just lucked out in life.

So go girl stay lucky and safe. Do not accept packages or bags from anyone to take or look after, as they may contain drugs. Anyone carrying drugs can be prosecuted with a death sentence, in some of those countries, but I guess you know that .

Don’t forget lots of SD cards

thanks so much! Wish i could pack you in my bag too! hehehe I dont drive, so that limits to where i can go (independantly). I was actually born in Malaysia (Penang) and lived there until my late teens (with living in UK also in that time).

I really would prefer the non-touristy places, and also im not a ‘beach’ person as in the bikini, getting a tan kinda stuff.. I think Langkawi would be a great short break..

Looking to take one week plus to myself (the rest prob spend with family that i havent seen for a long time in Malaysia) and would like to ‘hop’ around on two or three places (eg: 3×3Days/2Night)

yes i remember goin to Cameron Highlands (and Genting highlands, or something like that) when i was a kid. And yes..very nice and ‘english’ but i dont need to go anywhere thats cool to cold.. ive got Melbourne for that.. hehehe. Seeking sun and views that i dont get to see much here..

Thinking of adding Langkawi to my trip.. and also Thailand too.. just a few 2nites/3days type trips..
