Introducing leggings. Step into a world of stunning designs.

A Fokker DR1 experiencing a bit of a hard landing during the “Biplanes and Triplanes” airshow at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA.
Pilot walked away unhurt. Plane probably salvageable. Wooden propeller a complete loss.

Spot on timing mate, you even managed to capture the moment of impact as the prop hits the ground! Same thing happened at Duxford this year with the same type of aeroplane – very nose heavy arent they.

  • I have the entire sequence here, if you care to take a look …. Not sure how to send a link ….

    Well timed Andy

I’ve just been reading that they keep the wooden props on the Hurricane as the prop broke easily in a crash/wheels up landing and didn’t ruin the engine. !!
    Cheers Neil

  • That is an interesting point. Salvaging a relative “inexpensive” wooden prop for a somewhat cumbersome engine overhaul. Makes perfect sense i suppose. Thanks for pointing that out, Neil.
