After almost a year of eradic migration patterns, this little duckling was captured to undergo further studies by a team of international scientists. Initial reports indicate that this may be THE duck that some have come to known as being named Herman. Scientists fear an imminent public outcry of his immediate release. The laboratory is being picketed by protestors, several researchers have already removed themselves of this study, fearing personal harm. Updates to follow.

Ha!! Finally trapped the little bugger!!! His wandering days are over!!

  • Yes Marvin, somehow he got caught in this dragnet. It was really sad to see him wiggle all about and stuff. I almost was going to reach in and release him ….

This is Herman’s mother speaking….we have one of your scientist tied and gagged. If you want him back lets talk.

  • Von, so I bought this beat up Nikon Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 ED MF on eBay for $140. Glass looks solid, lens seems to be doing quite well! My first true prime lens! Love the step back in time of having to set aperature on the lens manually and also manual focus.

I have the same lens…my fav for fashion work and head shots. Great price, I payed a bit more 10 years ago but then it’s paid for itself long ago. I’ve yet to own anything but fixed lenses and it can be a pain carrying around the heavy buggers but that’s why I have assistants lol.

  • Cool, so you still use yours now? It is a sweet lens. I’m still looking to pick up an older Nikkor 105mm 2.5 Ai-s, any first hand experience with that one? I imagine that one would be good for portait work. Or the 85mm. Trying not to lug too much gear around since I’m the assistant …. hhehehe

I let sit in the bag for years the 105 micro until recently and holy cow I can’t believe how great this lens is. It’s really sharp and shows every detail on a persons face…sometimes this ain’t so good if you know what I mean. With manual focus you can play with the dof big time.
The 85 I use often for groups and weddings…good standard lens.

Ahahahaha! Oh sorry….was that out loud…….I mean……….poor, poor Herman :(

(Loving the banter between you and Von re: lenses :) I have been thinking about the 85mm so it is good to hear feedback from others.)
