Hornet Vapor
2009 NAS Oceana Airshow. Despite the overall lousy weather, I managed to get a few keepers. Here is a nice vapor burst around the 30yr Anniversary Marine F/A-18 Hornet.

You are too funny! This is why I go to airshows, in hopes of capturing the Vapor Burst Cone. Ultimate goal is to get the true sideview of the cone, but EVERYTHING has to line up right for that.

BTW, this happens only when the jet is flying just short of the speed of sound …. So, you can imagine the split second time you have to catch this.

Like you I have seen this quite a few times as well. It has been my goal to get a capture of this for awhile now. I’m not 100% happy with it just yet, so i guess I have to continue to go to airshows, hehehehe (which i LOVE anyway).
