Airborne ......all the way!

Airborne ......all the way!

A small chapter in my book of life! Posting this in order to submit to the upcoming Military Insignia challenge. Airborne!

These are the original jumpwings I earned on my 5th jump at the Basic Airborne School in Ft. Benning, GA. They were pinned on my chest by my Jumpmaster, it was one of those “special” days in my life.

Andy -
Its a personal and professional honor to know and have served with soldiers like you. Thanks for your support and friendship.

HUAH!!!!! I remember Jump School, how could I ever forget. I went through Delta Co. “The Rock”. I was 20 years old back then, 1989

  • Andy Mueller replied

Ken, we were pretty close then (almost). I went through Charlie Co. in 1987 with my entire cohort platoon. From there we went right to the 82nd Airborne Division and then got divided to units throughout the entire division (originally we were supposed to stay a one platoon). Thank you for your service! Where did you go after Jumpschool?

HUAH! “AIRBORNE! My sons been at a fwd fire base in Afghanistan for about 2 months now. Got his first verified kill, rolled a Humvee and got his “dear John Letter”. Quite an accomplishment for a 19 year old. He still is without wings, but is working with Charlie Company supporting the 82nd. The facebook link is TaskForce One Fury. Go A I R B O R N E !

What a beautiful thing to write – you must have been so happy! (as you obviously were/are!!:)... I love the way you have composed your image here, it is so emotive, somehow it really touches an emotional string in me – don’t know why but it does! Almost as if the emotion is coming out of your jumpwings and your book – quite amazing Andy! Hope life is treating you well these days, and that you are treating life well! It has been a weird couple of months lately…., for all of us, I think! Take care! :))

Memories of this sort is one that will last forever. I still remember my day. In many ways the person you are today is partly because of the Jumpwing you diplay here and the pride you hold with.
Well earned and thanks for keeping the memories alive. – Peter

Thanks for commenting and you service to our country! Love the Band Of Brothers, watch it every time it is on. I had a few buddies in the 101st. Still liked being on active jump status with the 82nd though ….

A great movie! I’ve only known a few people in the 82nd….I started out at Ft.Riley which has nothing….....to ending up at Ft.Campbell which had EVERYTHING. I miss the comraderie and true friendships. if you’ve never been to that post…u should visit just to see all the ‘dinosaurs’ on display there.
