    Wow, wonderful capture, Andy!

  • Andy Mueller replied

Thank you Maureen! Beautiful thing to watch “live”.

  • Shelly Hiebert

    Shelly Hiebert

Oh WOW Andy! What a fantastic capture! The fish in the talons and in flight….amazing shot!

  • Andy Mueller replied

It was fun to watch …. so as she approached the nest, she literally held the fish in just one talon, and then dropped it into the nest while continuing on. That was fun to see. Thanks for the comment!

  • Mindy Dick

    Mindy Dick

Cool Andy..I watch the norfolk eagles live webcam…I believe I saw this drop…..neat that you have this shot…

  • Andy Mueller replied

You have some incredible work in your portfolio! Thanks for stopping by here, why do you watch our eagle webcam (I think it’s great), but why ours? This year has been really good. the juvies are branching now, I suspect they will take first flight this coming week.

  • Mindy Dick

    Mindy Dick

oh..I watch our local cams, as well as yours…It was the banding and such that got me watching..it is illegal to do such things to our eagles..So it was spectacular to watch it live there….We too have a nest with three who have just thrived…a very very rare thing to see three eaglets survive…

  • Andy Mueller replied

Hey, yes that are banded (a band on each talon), and one also is carrying a transmitter so that it can be tracked where it will relocate to. Oddly, I have not seen that one near the nest last couple of times I went.

  • Michael Bermingham

    Michael Bermi...

Such a shame….. You didnt get the tips of his wings….
Oh well, better luck next time Mate!
    lol
    Fan-friggin-tastic!!!!!

  • Andy Mueller replied

You BEST have favorited it, after a COMMENT like that !!! Hehehehe, I knew you would gig on me that, and I was playing around with extreme crops, etc to have it not look like a missed shot. In the end, I am happy to just have got what I got, not everything in nature is perfect, so I figured I keep this shot just like nature – beautiful – but not perfect! How is that for a defense? Sounds good to me, LMAO!

  • Spencer Trickett

    Spencer Trickett

    Terrific shot mate! Huge wingspan!

  • Andy Mueller replied

Wingspan would actually have been a little “huger” .... hehehehe. Thanks Spencer!

  • Michael Bermingham

    Michael Bermi...

Sorry, Thought I did favourite it!
Listen, I will expect a Master Class on how to take these shots when I get over there, This is one thing I have never been able to take.

  • Andy Mueller replied

I know you favorited it before ….. Oh and by the way, this is the female, so technically I didn’t clip “his” wingtips at all, hehehehe! I sure hope I could take you on an Eagle shoot, not sure if they will be around that much once the little ones leave. Maybe we’ll get lucky and catch them sprucing up the nest?

  • Joel Hall

    Joel Hall

Great capture Andy! I need to get back out there, maybe this weekend

  • Andy Mueller replied

Joel, this weekend maybe good, as I think they are days away from taking first flight. They are “branching” now, which involves minimal flight from nest to branches near the nest. They have not taken that leap of faith just yet.

  • Michele Conner

    Michele Conner

Great shot Andy… and how do you know this is the female? Gosh… I was the wildlife biologist and I have not a clue…

  • Andy Mueller replied

Actually, I have no idea, it was a way to get out of Bermingham’s comment about me having clipped “his” wings …. hehehehe, heck, he wouldn’t know the difference.

  • Michael Bermingham

    Michael Bermi...

Mate, I’d be happy with ducks…...
    lol

  • Andy Mueller replied

Hear, hear. Amen brother … I will take you to the duck park. In fact, we may camp there for a few days … hehehe

  • Andy Mueller replied

Look at Michele Conner’s comment and then my reply, hehehehe

What a Great Shot…one of my goals is to (try) and get one like this. We go out on the lake quite a bit out here and there are 2 Eagles that have a lot of fun teasing me…I still haven’t had that perfect moment yet…But come the end of this summer, I hope to have something!!! :)

  • Andy Mueller replied

Just “keep looking up”, you’ll get them …. Best of luck, and be mindful of what Shutterspeed you choose ….
