B-17 Memphis Belle replica flyby
2007 AirPower over Hampton Roads, Langley AFB. B-17 flyby, plane slightly banked for a perfect picture opportunity. You can almost make out the oil leaking over the engine cowl and wing (especially on port engine number 2). This is the Memphis Belle replica, the real Memphis Belle is currently undergoing restoration at the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. Last I heard the restoration is supposed to be completed by 2010.

B-17 Memphis Belle replica flyby belongs to the following groups:

Thank you Lance, the pilots really did a great job on banking the plane ever so slightly to get a shot like this. The real Memphis Belle is currently undergoing restoration at the Wright Patterson Air Force base in Dayton, OH. Can’t wait to see the real one taking flight again.

I like this shot . where i live in Lincolnshire UK there were many air fields during the 2nd world war , And in the summer i see the Lancaster bomber fly over my house during displays and shows etc including with the spitfire and hurricane , The sound of the Rolls Royce engines cannot be explained in words . And i have had the great privilege of meeting the local pilots who flew them over the years and listening to there stories. And also near to me is where they made the film memphis belle

Great shot…I have a pic of this on my site, now I am not sure if it is the replica or the real thing.
I shot it at an airshow in Ohio 2 years ago.
