Flight Of Frenzy
Today I had my first close encounter with snow geese, who appear to have migrated here for the winter. What a sight to see. The noise as they are in flight is just incredible! It appears to be advantageous to be on top during these close flights ….. notice the one “leaking” some hydraulic fluid?

You are lucky to have seen it. Someone else just posted a shot of them in Eastern NC- they must be moving North. Stunning!

Very cool shot, Andy…. and I think that’s a hair on your lens, not hydraulic fluid. he he he J/K
Andy Mueller replied
Kimmie, I am still in awe at what I saw today ….. I have other shots, zoomed out, and the entire frame is full of birds. The sound was just incredible !!! I’m glad you got to experience this yourself. And nope, not a hair on the lens, hehehehe.

This is Ironic! Got some myself today! Not nearly this close though…just a few quick shots from the car. Wish I would have had more time to spend on them. Love how you see…tale feathers and eyeballs! Nice to see what they look like up close!

Andy Mueller replied
Oh Joni, you have no idea. As a bird and nature lover you would have LOVED this!!! I’m STILL in awe, at what I witnessed. A day I won’t soon forget, hope to catch them again before they head back north.

Love this picture… and to hear them is amazing. The winter at Mackey Island in NC with the Tundra swans. You can also find huge flocks of them at Assateague in VA. I LOVE watching them… especially in the evening when they are coming in from feeding and just thousands and thousands keep pouring in…
Dyle Warren
Cool shot of this flock,...love the tones and action!!
