You Know….This is one of the great attrocities of war. For someone to have fought and died in the service of their country….Only to have a simple “Unknown Soldier” Memorial.
I know it would be highly controversial, but in the cases where actual remains are unidentified…. They should be exumed….and DNA tested against a registry of all the families of those who do not know where their loved ones lay.
After a positive ID has been made… they can then recieve a Burial with Full Military Honours.
And their families can have closure…and not to mention somewhere to visit.
It is simply not good enough that they lay Unknown to all. When the sacrifice made…..was the Ultimate one.

You know, I agree 100% with every word in your comment. It’s a shame that the government will not initiate a policy similar to what you described. It’s the closure to their families, AND to actaully have ones name on that headstone, considering ALL they have done for their country …. Seems almost like there should not be a thought wasted on this, it should just be DONE …..
