The Mother Road

Andy Mueller

The Mother Road

First commissioned in 1926, Route 66 was the first highway to link Chicago with Los Angeles. By the 1930’s is was THE way west. John Steinbeck penned it “the mother road” in his work, Grapes of Wrath. This shot was taken somewhere between Kingman and Oatman, AZ.

Man, you are the luckiest people in the world!!!

You live in a country that overflows with pop culture. Everywhere you turn there is something famous to look at.

    Its so Friggin boring here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    lol

  • Andy Mueller replied

Not quite everwhere you turn Michael, I drove 1100 miles in 3 days to cover the sites I wanted to go to ….. And I would love to see for myself how boring it is over in your part of the world, something tells me I wouldn’t be bored at all …...

Wouldn’t we all like to take that trip, mmmm, maybe in a Shelby Cobra Mustang, sigh.

  • Andy Mueller replied

Oh yes, a Shelby Cobra would fit quite nicely between those yellow lines …... Miles and miles of open road, didn’t see a police car anywhere. Then this road turns into major switchbacks as you head into the mountains. No Guardrail on the cliff side either …...
