Polar Bear-Endangered
It is not just Cats that are facing hard times. Many animals through out the world are facing tough times due to our impact on the enviroment. As I pump gas into my Jeep and wonder why it costs 45 dollars to fill a little gas tank on a Jeep I ponder why oil companies are posting profits, not just a mere profit, but billons in profits. Alot of this oil is is removed from artic regions on and off shore. These bears are unique in that they are maninly land dwellers but do rely on the water as well for survival. The impact in the water effects the way they feed and and provide for their young. I sit and think how the rising cost of energy is effecting many people. People are changing the way they live and what they do just to afford gas. That impact has a trickle down effect that goes all they way back to the source of the fuel. It would seem that these enourmous profits are taking away the life for many.
I am not yet sold on the idea of Global Warming, yet, after the winter that alot of people just experienced. I do know that our climate is changing and there is no doubt that man has had a hand in that. That effect is causing many animals like the Polar Bear to struggle for survival. In one part of their natural enviroment the effect on is to the point that these great creatures are struggling to find food. The ice in the water is melting weeks before it used to and this has caused them rely on feeding on land because there is no floating ice for them to get on and move from ice to ice out into the bay area to hunt for food, in a word they are grounded. It would be like going into eat somewhere and getting a menu that had one or two choices on it, instead of the all you can eat buffet. Some have gotten on floating ice and once out in the bay they are stranded their as well because there is not the usual amount of ice floating for them to transverse back to land, they panic and try to swim back to land, some make it, some do not, especially the little ones. Their numbers are shrinking as well. It seeems the more we expand into others enviroment the more our impact leaves a negative impression on it. Through out history we have changed the way people and animlas live, forcing them to retreat and limiting their means of survival. We started in this country with the American Indian and have consistantly left our foot print on other native species. So i sit and ponder while some oil excutive reaps the rewards that mother earth provides and we sit and watch her jewels get thrown to the side for liquid gold.

First off I have to say this is a beautiful and striking picture….secondly I totally agree with your words….and I CAN NOT BELIEVE what the people in power are doing!!! waiting to get in their and make a mess of the polar bears habitat BEFORE they put them on the endangered species list,,,ITS SICK AND DISGUSTING because it is all for PROFIT!!!! what is money but pieces of paper….I CAN NOT STAND the fact that we all have to be controlled by pieces of paper….something has to change and soon …...

Wonderful capture of an amazing animal, Le’s hope someone somewhere comes to their senses (if they have any) and does something to help all our animal species to survive, but unfortunately they don’t even seem to care if we survive, Very much the ‘I’m all right, pull up the ladder jack’ attitude.

Excellent photo…great narrative.
I am not sold on Global Warming. I am sold on mankind abuses the resources God gave him. I do believe that mankind is on a path to detroy all the beautiful things God gave him – the wildlife, the forests, the seas, fertile ground, THE EARTH!!
Greed, power, selfishness, self righteousness, and self absorbtion are ruling the world we live in. The result is destruction. Not that we should stand and do nothing, but I feel confident there will be a day when much of what we know will only be in zoos and museums.

hi, wayofthewarrior; this is an excellent picture of a wonderful animal. I wish there was a simple solution, but as long as the number of humans increases, pressures will be excerted upon the available resources, and as a side effect, upon other inhabitants of this planet. It is clearly a very complicated problem which cannot be solved in simple ways.
Midnightdreamer…if you “cannot stand the fact that we are controlled by pieces of paper” then we must return to the “barter system” ...to say the least, a most difficult way to conduct commerce in this day and age. There are, unfortunately, no simple solutions to complex problems…..Bert

Beautful, stunning image of this beloved animal!!! Hard to know what to believe from our politicians regardless of what “side of the fence” you’re on.
It’s stated that the polar bear population has doubled since 1965 and environmentalists will only boost energy prices higher and actually hurt the polar bear in the long run.
