9 year cycles of ever expanding freedom...
I am celebrating today the 27th anniversary of my family’s immigration to Australia; or as I call it for myself – my “Home Coming” day!
It occurred to me to take snap shots reflecting on the general themes of my life at nine year intervals (27 = 3 X 9 and all):
1981 – being set free from the highly disciplined upbringing of obeying teachers/adults in Taiwan to realise my fate is in my own hands! I convinced my teachers to let me catch up with my age in school, moving through years 8, 9 then 10 within my first year, learning English from scratch. It was a turning point that enabled me to trust my own guidance despite what others might say.
1990 – following my desire for more creativity & freedom to quit my job in corporate taxation and move to Germany. Instead of just pursuing creative expression and exploring new cultures, this period of daring and independence led me to be honest with myself, coming out as a gay man.
1999 – ending my “gay marriage”, waking up from my unconscious dream of mistaking a co-dependent relationship as my saviour; starting to appreciate what love really is. Experiencing the delight of being single without ever feeling lonely as my inner connection to Self & All deepened.
2008 – the beginning of another new phase of my life. I want to follow my intuition in every moment to be free from taking action out of worry, fear or obligation. I want to just relax, be happy and allow the unlimited abundance of the universe into my experience with ease and joy.
I am so excited about being where I am and what is yet to come.
On this special day, I give thanks to my parents for their courage & trust in life. I appreciate my Chinese heritage and the heritage of our Indigenous, Anglo-Celtic & all other cultures on this beautiful southern land.
Having been re-assured with such wonderful life experiences, I continue to fall open to the ever expanding joy & freedom of life.
