Flame and solitude

Flame and solitude

An exigency of a power outage,
my evening was dictated
by the vagaries of a broken
and shorted power line,
Out of sight….down the road.

Ah, but the result inside the house….
I sat and played the mellifluous Martin,
my son grabbed his camera began shooting candles,
the women folk, ensconced at the kitchen table
to peruse the nuances of dominoes.

Not a bad familial exercise in creatiave
or survival living, albeit for 2 hours.

The most enjoyable must have been,
well, the Martin, of course!
No one complained!

Great shot Wayne…very warm and cosy.

  • Wayne Cook replied

Candles make light to break the darkness, flame to heat the cold, sensuality to make love. One candle can do all this. Is it not a miracle?

Great shot Wayne….what is a Martin?

  • Wayne Cook replied

Look for the guitars earlier in my pages…or suffice it to say, in my opinion, playing a Martin is the ear’s equivalent of intimacy

  • Wayne Cook replied

I am going to do a series on Martin guitars, Yool. A dear friend suggested it just hours ago and I as I love the instrument, I need to find a way to picture it like the feeling.

great shot Wayne, sometimes we need a break from the real world…. lost we are in its entangling fast moving pace…. we never take the time to stop and enjoy that moment ….. never feel discouraged at a power outage rejoice for the few moments you have of undivided attention you have with your family and friends…. God bless Wayne…
