ARTISTS BIOGARAPHY
Wayne Olwagen

Born in Turffontein, Johannesburg in 1960, Wayne has always had a fascination for art, he started painting in oils at the age of twelve and continued to work in different mediums throughout his art career, in the late seventies he studied two dimensional and three dimensional design at the University of South Africa. He also completed an internship as a graphic designer with a prominent design studio in Johannesburg.

During the mid eighties, Wayne exhibited his work on many occasions and to date has sold more than 400 drawings to collectors in South Africa and internationally, some collectors have four or five pieces in their collections. From the late eighties until 2007 Wayne did not produce any artwork, his main focus was developing art groups for artists who wanted to exhibit their work, but did not have access to galleries in South Africa. He has recently started producing work and has been quickly accepted to exhibit work at a number of galleries in South Africa

Wayne’s work has a message, the images focus on ordinary people in different situations.
There are three different types of pencil artists, those that are draughtsman, those that are illustrators and those that have a message or story to tell, Wayne is a storyteller, he presenst the images and leaves the story up to your imagination.
Wayne currently lectures online and presents lectures in drawing to selected students at his studio in Johannesburg
