Artist's Description

A mother brown bear and her cub wade through the water on top of Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, Alaska. Hundreds of brown bears migrate to Brooks Falls during the month of July for the annual salmon run. During that time dozens of bears can be seen at the falls feeding on salmon. Once the salmon run is over most bears move on, so this mother brings her cub to the falls for a safer place to fish.
