Taken on a little track somwhere between Sale and Bairnsdale. This little calf had escaped from his paddock and was happily exploring the outside world.

How cute….what a serendipitous capture; the light is wonderful….

  • Thanks. He was rather flightly and it took me quite a while to get this shot. I’m sure I looked quite ridiculous hiding behind trees then sneakily creeping out to photograph him!

Nope :( I wasn’t strong enough to throw him over the electric fence :( and I looked for a farmer for ages and couldn’t find one. I’m sure he’ll find his way back though.

Been busy and didn’t get a chance to comment earlier, but I really liked the B/W version. The color version looks great, too!

This is a really great shot Cathy, it has a lot of charm and is really pleasant to look at. And I love the shallow depth of field too. Well done :)

  • Thanks Alex. Very much appreciated.

Okay, I’m going to take a stab at something here. What makes this is “great” picture. Is it the calf? Is it the color?

  • Thanks JR, glad you like it. For me it’s how the calf is in the scene – busy doing his own thing in a place he wouldn’t normally be. A snippet of time.
