St. John the Baptist, Adel
The pretty church of St. John the Baptist at Adel, Leeds. It was built c1150 in the Norman style, on the site of an earlier Saxon church. The unsympathetic porch is to protect that wonderful doorway, which is intricately carved but now, sadly, very erroded.

Indeed they do. This church is still very much in use. Many thanks, Al.

You’re right about the roof over the doorway, but it could be much worse… have SEEN much worse… & it seems to be serving a useful purpose. Excellent little building.

Thank you very much, Sheila.

Any closeups of the doorway??
WatscapePhoto replied
Not yet, Sheila. I keep promising myself that I will do that – it’s less than five miles from home.
