Rhinocervs 1515 [rhinoceros c1515]
Albrecht Dürer’s 16th century woodcut of a Rhinoceros is based on secondary description. This doesn’t reduce the wonderful artistic creation that resulted. Today we are often given artistic representation and interpretation as fact, so the concept hasn’t changed all that much in the last 500 years … today the RHIONCERVS would likely fit right into a steampunk branding theme. Robust animal with rivet plate boiler armour certainly evokes retro-technology in the world of steampunk ecology!
