Artist's Description

olympus e410 / zuiko digital 25mm prime 1:2.8/25mm Hoya (72) infrared filter | 2 infrared shots as a double exposure, both are long exposures: ISO 1600 EV+5 f/8.0 6 sec. background layer is a circular motion blur, from landscape to portrait. Left the infrared colours as shot with filter. | I have shot this tree on more than one occasion. It’s a Himalayan Magnolia and easily over a century old. In the Fall they grow their flowering buds and all the leaves drop for the Winter. In late Winter/early Spring, these will bloom and cover the branches in flowers, prior to the leaves coming back. But I think they have their most character during their cold hibernation, a bit of magic in this one

featured: | Olympus & Four Thirds Group, Challenge Winner for, Tree or trees in all their glory |
Shapes & Patterns group | 3rd place Challenge, Shapes & Patterns in infrared |
