I am a firm believer in “Change your MIND, Keep the CHANGE” and do my very best to BE and LIVE the change I wish to see in the world.
Author of “Out of Cullen Street (A House of Madness), available at amazon.com, I am an internationally published, award-winning poet. My second book, “Painted Poems (Portraits of New Mexico)” is about to be published by Publish America.
I belong to the Academy of American Poets, the New Mexico State Poetry Society (NMSPS), and was just re-elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Valencia County branch of the NMSPS, as well as being their Publicity Chair. Oh, and by the way, I am also the Assistant Editor for the NMSPS’ quarterly newsletter, “Language of Enchantment”, and am on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Taj Mahal Review, an international journal of culture, arts, literature and poetry.
Poetry came with me when I came here to earth.
In addition to singing bass with both the Albuquerque Symphony Adult Choir and the University of New Mexico Valencia Choir, I am a certified peer counselor for the mentally ill, a paraprofessional crisis/suicide line volunteer and Rune reader.
I am a founding member of the Rosa Parks Wall of Tolerance (a public tribute to thousands of Center supporters and others who have advanced the cause of tolerance in America, and a prominent feature of the Civil Rights Memorial Center in Montgomery, Alabama).
I am also a founding member of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Project, which commemorates the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and honors his national and international contributions to world peace through non-violent social change.
Further, I am a member of Doctors Without Borders, Southern Poverty Law Center, Amnesty International, the Interfaith Alliance & the ACLU.
