The Italian Riviera.....
A sentimental sketch for my sister who just returned from a holiday there
Painted on Saunders 300gsm, with transparent watercolour.
Light pencil sketch with wet in wet technique , simple foreground and brushmarks shorthand to stand for boats.
Main idea was to capture the colours of those old buildings.

Jean, It’s been over 20 years since I last visited the Italian Riviera, but from the look of your painting it hasn’t change a whole lot from the way I remember it. I know your sister will be pleased with this. Excellent work.

Done from a photo Jim, haven’t been there myself, I don’t suppose the modern world gets to spoil these places too much.
