It’s not fair that
I don’t know your name.
You know mine.

Who taught you to
make it sound so sweet?

If I wanted
I could take it back from you.
It’s just another word

And your eyes speak louder,
like there’s someone there,
awake and alive,
watching me watching you.

It enchants me
how when we talk
your eyes never leave mine,
like maybe
you can really see me.

How you laugh at my jokes
and how my jokes are actually funny.

How when we talk you play with things to distract yourself
from the shyness that threatens
to unman you.

If the patterns on your arm
tell your story,
I could take your hand
and read you.

And trace a path
back towards you.

Yes, I will have another,

If only to hear you say my name again
and feel it melt like the ice cream
I would steal from your mouth
on a summer’s day

With a kiss light as laughter
and dark as passion
long hidden in shadow’s corner.

I listen for shockwaves,
I search for signposts
and doorways
and reasons why not.

If you can say ”kiss me now”
without words then please,

Say it now.

Artist's Description

Words are blunt instruments
Words are sawn off shotguns
– jigsaw falling into place, radiohead

My local barista is hot. And shy. Or else has a girlfriend. (No, it’s not possible that he doesn’t like me ;)

It’s a mystery I’m getting to the bottom of. At least I seem to have turned a happy corner.
