In the garden, Eve stands. Her ribs are wind-blown, grown out of the earth’s own intention to survive. The blind instinct of a mother jaguar’s claws reaches towards the focus of her attention and swallows it whole. A Venus fly trap enclosing the fragile planet, she holds the future as the ribs hold the human heart.
Eve’s Ribs is currently on exhibition in Sculpture in the Vineyards 2008, situated in a poplar grove at the Stonehurst Cedar Creek vineyard along the Wollombi Valley wine trail.
Steel, fibreglass and acrylic plaster.
