One of the regulars in our back yard. He’s worked out the Rainbow Lorrikeets back off when we are in the yard, so they tend to visit when the feeders are full and we are in the yard. They tend to travel in pairs, the female has a green head, and would have been around close by.

In the 1990’s photography for me was about SLR’s & dark rooms, it was about printing your shots at 3-6am to ‘beat the light’ in you homemade darkroom to get your shots to press. I worked in music, hair and a little news, but love portraiture. Now I use a digital slr, but try to replicate shot control like in the old film days. I now longer make my living out of photography, but prefer to better my life by embracing a passion ;)

What a gorgeous guy he is Mark. We’re a bit too far south for King Parrots where we are but have rosellas, frogmouths, kookas, owls, wrens and many others around our block. Great grab shot of a spectacular bird!

  • Thanks Brett,
we live in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, SE Qld, so we get quite a few of these guys off the mountains – especially in dry times like these. At the moment I’m actually keeping a trough from the bore in a empty paddock just for native animals and birds. They are gorgeous and their family values are an inspiration – you can learn so much about humanity by watching animals. ;)
