An old unused shed. There are many in the area. It reminds me of a time when this part of the world made a lot more out of growing food. Now importing cheaper food seems to have taken away the life that once flourished in these shed…. mind you, if it had a hole in the top it would make a perfect smokehouse.

taken with a fuji s9600, processed in gimp.

In the 1990’s photography for me was about SLR’s & dark rooms, it was about printing your shots at 3-6am to ‘beat the light’ in you homemade darkroom to get your shots to press. I worked in music, hair and a little news, but love portraiture. Now I use a digital slr, but try to replicate shot control like in the old film days. I now longer make my living out of photography, but prefer to better my life by embracing a passion ;)

    Nicely spotted Marky!

  • Thanks Jordan, on one of those side roads off the main drag, as such ;). I"m planning to do a series of ‘old broken sheds’ – there are some wonderful examples around here.

What a great find, and what stories it could tell

  • there are a few still around – I recently found out that the timber in an old chook shed from the farm I grew up in was redressed and used to build a little one room weekend cottage. It’s funny how things get reused as well :) I actually hoping to spend a little free time shooting all the old shed around here – some are so old they lean on an angle – but I think i like them the most – cheers!

mmmm love smoked food… and this image is good too :)

  • Thanks Maree,
when I was a kid my grandparents, uncles and aunt would all get together and we would ‘made meat’ you might say – i won’t get too graphic, but I always helped grandma with the making of wurst’s and sausages… being of German/Welsh/Irish decent – we were particular about this – and grandma was the best ;) Our smoke house looked a little like that one ;)
