One of our herd, Lucy is young, slightly unpredictable and beautifully intelligent – half quarter horse, half standard bred – burnt buckskin.

In the 1990’s photography for me was about SLR’s & dark rooms, it was about printing your shots at 3-6am to ‘beat the light’ in you homemade darkroom to get your shots to press. I worked in music, hair and a little news, but love portraiture. Now I use a digital slr, but try to replicate shot control like in the old film days. I now longer make my living out of photography, but prefer to better my life by embracing a passion ;)

    Gorgeous shot of her Marky!

  • thanks Jordan, I’m going through a series of self imposed exercises – trying to do electronically in GIMP what I used to be able to do in the dark room – I’m getting there, so this one is my first digital edge burn. it was so much easier playing ‘shadow puppets’ in the old days ;)

    Superb Mark.

  • thanks Julie, she’s a burnt buckskin – born here – a very placid animal, she has only ever know ‘good’ treatment – she has been ridden – but never ‘broken’, with-in a 1 hour training session she had the trainer saddle on with a bridle and was being ridden – has never bucked once ;)

    What a lovely gentle capture.

  • thanks Maree, she’s a beautiful horse – she is the first daughter and second offspring of our lead mare, so is averagely high in the herd’s pecking order – she’s also a sweetheart – have known her since her birth ;)

    simply stunning work xxx

  • Hi Ariana – thanks for that – she’s a beautiful creature – I’m still ‘getting the feel’ of digital B/W – I have done most of my photography on film and paper, but as ‘simple’ as digital seems to be – I’ve found having control over the shot to be slightly harder – but then I am of older days ;)
