Artist's Description

The symbolic design that was and is the Empire of Japan. The rising sun, or to westerners known as “the meatball” has adorned on Japanese military aircraft from the beginning. It was painted on the first aircraft acquired in 1910, it was on the wings of the Zeros, Kates, and Vals that attacked Pearl Harbor, and it’s still in use today by the Japanese Self Defense Force.
