Listed by USFWS (United States Fish and Wildlife Service) as endangered and protected by CITES. Gorillas are endangered due to increases in human population and the need to cultivate more land for farming and cattle. The natural habitat of the gorilla is shrinking. Poaching is also a problem for gorillas.

    this is absolutely incredible – I think I’ve been staring at it for 5 minutes!
    I never knew Gorillas had fingernails. If you look at just the tips of the fingers they could easily be mistake for human fingers!
    And the texture, wrinkles and colour of their leathery skin is incredible.
    Then to top all that intrigue off there’s the extremely touching emotional impact of them holding hands.
    I would definitely class this photo as one of the best I’ve seen on Red Bubble!!! Well Done!!

    Quite poignant. Very subtly points out the extraordinary similarities between gorillas and humans. From a technical point of view, I really like how the light has highlighted the creases in the top hand and, of course, the very tight composition. It’s also quite difficult to get a good exposure when most of the subject is dark grey to black.

    Wow, this is such a detailed shot, it make me want to reach out and feel the wrinkles! i think it shows a caring more delicate side to the gorilla that you dont normally see, well done!
