Kyle Vs. The Self Portrait 2 by Kyle Jerichow

Attempt 2 at a self portrait.

Differetn lighting setup than yesterday.

The main light (group A) is in a 24’’ Ezybox. But it is not facing me, it is actually moer towards camera, this is beacuse the light coming frond the edges and spilling out is the softest light you get out of the softbox.

the rim light is on a justin clamp attached to the door that is to camera left. It is zommed to 200mm with no diffusion.

My background is a shower curtain btw.

I think if i do this again I will put the rim light to the rear and above me to add more of a rim on the left side of me to give more seperation from the background.

I also need a hair cut.

Good SP attempt, and your rundown of the setup is great to see.
If I can just say, your left eye has become very dark and think you need to throw just a small amount there so we can see you have got two eyes. Perhaps a reflector catching some of the main light could do that job. You’re on the right track with adding some separation with the rear light, on your next attempt. Almost there, keep it up.

  • Thanks Peter!

I tried to use an SB-R200 on a pole to light up that slide of my face, but after multiple attempts I got frusterated and had to call it a day!
