Cancer...
I haven’t shared this with many of you, but I guess now’s as good a time as any.
My Aunt, JoAnn Aikman, my mom’s oldest sister….has been battling cancer now for many years. I’m not sure if it’s been 4 or 5 yrs now as we’ve lost count with all the battles from being cancer free, to getting it again, the hospital stays, the many tests, to the chemo…and now to Hospice.
She’s been in the hospital now since Thursday, Oct 16, 2008. She’s just going on the down hill journey now. There is no more they can do, and has been this way for about a month now, but now it’s just getting through those last days. Her doctor has talked her into going on Hospice Care so they can keep her comfortable at home.
Her cancer started out in her lungs, and she’s never smoked a day in her life! After about the 3rd battle with it coming back, it decided to come back with a vengence and spread to her liver. They thought they could stop it with chemo, but to no avail it kept on spreading.
I wrote this at 1am this morning because my heart was just burdened for her pain & suffering, and I just kept praying for GOD to stop the battle. She’s tired, and ready to go HOME…HEAVEN. We had a great visit with her on Thursday, and she laughed ‘til she actually had a few tears fall. I captured the best moment I could ask for of her & my mom just laughing their hearts out….so much so that they spilled her tea. LOL :o) I will upload that photo later.
Please keep her in your prayers, as well as her husband, 4 children 12 grandchildren (I believe is the right number….some do not live in Tx..so it’s hard to keep up), and the rest of our family.
We all need GOD’s strength to let go, and allow her to go HOME….HEAVEN.

Crushed…
Torn….
Wanting more.
Caner…
Holding on come hell or high water…
A mom loosing her first born daughter.
Dreams…
Life…
Loosing your wife.
Cancer…
A demon…
Without a reason.
Screaming inside…
Trying to stay calm…
Loosing your mom.
Cancer…
Fought long & hard…
A messy battle by far.
Laughing…
Captured in a picture…
Loosing your sister.
Cancer…
No season…
Not even discrimination.
Praying…
Trying not to rant…
Loosing your aunt.
Cancer…
A demon…
Without rhyme or reason.

It’s simply beautiful!!!
My thoughts are with her, and all your family of course.
Now has come to be at her side when she decides to let go …
Sheila Pasket replied
Thank You so much!! I am not sure how I’d handle it if it were my mom, but obviously cancer likes our family. My one aunt survived Breast Cancer, and this one isn’t going to survive a cancer that she should have never had to have.

Oh my goodness…thanks for the fav!! You are such an inspiration to me. I put away my writing abilities for many years, and meeting you has brought them back out. It’s a great way to release your inner self. I needed it!

A great tribute how great for you to do.
Sheila Pasket replied
thanks so much!! I just wanted to do something, because you know at this stage in the “game” there is nothing to do except wait, and make her laugh, etc. before long, she’ll know none of us. It just seems to happen that way.

I dear sheila – this must me the hardest time…..
Your words project a sense of all those who suffer – of all the loss – of all the grief -
I am praying – I am so glad in my heart of that beautiful time you spent with your aunt on thursday
To have seen her laugh and cry – to have been there for her and with her providing comfort and support – I myself have never experienced that, but I know how much it would have meant to your mum and your aunt. So glad you shared your heart and what’s been happening and wrote this deeply moving poem. Much love, Karin cox
Sheila Pasket replied

Sorry I wasn’t here to get that bubblemail right away. My husband is a two time Cancer survivor. It is the only illness that I think )along with many theologens) really is a demonic attack. So…keep letting the Holy Spirit lift her up and comfort her and you as well. I am so sorry you and your Aunt have to experience this trial. She will go on to be way more than happy with Jesus but you will have a harder time because you were not ready to give her to Him. I will keep you both in my prayers.
Sheila Pasket replied
Ellen….you are such an inspiration, and example of how GOD truly is a loving, caring, devoted GOD. Your friendship means the world to me…thank you so much for taking the time to stop by, and give your words of wisdom. I am honored!! And thanks for your prayers!!
