The inset is the to-scale model of the Point San Luis Lighthouse. Built in 1890. You can see these two windows towards the bottom right of the model. The photo of the model was taken on site in the restoration building nearby.
Everything needed to build the real lighthouse and furnish it, as well as its outbuildings had to arrive by ship. Now, a single lane road snakes from the highway to the lighthouse grounds. Phone and make an appointment to visit. No vehicles allowed on the property but the trolley ride from the parking area off the highway is included in the fee, along with a docent tour. You may also stroll the grounds. Small gift shop. No food for sale. Bring a snack and water.
