Many Victorian pieces decorate the home of the former lighthouse keeper at the Point San Luis Lighthouse near Avila Beach, California. The buildings were erected in 1890 and the family lived there. In the mid-1900’s, the lighthouse was abandoned and the light removed and kept in storage to protect it from vandalism. Now, the place has been carefully restored and decorated with items a lighthouse keeper and his family would typically have owned during the 1890’s and early 1900’s. The lighthouse is open for tours. Reservations must be made as a trolley is the only way to reach the grounds. Take the docent tour and enjoy walking the grounds, admiring the ocean views.
